The Boston Pill Trial

Margaret Sanger asked Gregory Pincus to come up with a birth control pill, he knew the hardest part would be getting approved from the U.S food and drug administration (FDA). Gregory had to find someone willing to take on a controversial project and is eligible to provide the study of volunteers for the trial. Pincus found a doctor that worked 40 miles from Shrawsbury, Massachusetts, lab. Pincus had been given a synthetic version of the hormone to rabbits and rabbits to inhibit ovulation. Rock, Pincus's partner was giving women the same hormone to enable them to become pregnant. Rock placed these patients on a daily regimen for several months. After stopping the treatment he hoped that the reproductive organs would rebound and enable his patients to conceive. After administrating 80 patients, 13 of them were conceived. Soon Pincus asked Rock to collaborate on human trials for the pill. In the summer of 1995, Pincus visited Puerto Rico and discovered a new location fir the trial. There were already 67 clinics dispensing methods of birth control. On October 29,1959 the (FDA) license their drug enovid for use as an oral contraceptive.

Precious

1.)I believe precious is inspired by the unexpected, striving for education and fighting not to repeat the same cycle of circumstances. Precious breaks you open and digs right down into your spirit. No matter who you are, we all have tinges of Precious in our lives. As extreme as the story is, it’s real, tangible and deeply vivid. I would've expected precious to give up on her life and school after having her first child by her father.
2.)Precious overcomes her situation because she found people that loved her and showed her the right path to go down. Her teacher was one of the biggest roles in how she changed her life and made the decision to leave and get her daughter back. I play a big role in my little brothers life because i show him the rights and the wrongs n life. I teach him his manners correctly and the right time to use them. He looks up to me because i encourage him to do the right things in life and to be what he wants to be.

Bridge Blog

1) I dont think i would be entering my bridge in the competition because it is not done.
2) The construction of my bridge is simple, starting from the bottom to the top. It has no designs to it. I wanted to keep my bridge simple but i didnt have enough time to finish it.
3) Im not entering my bridge in the competition so i dont think i will be getting a grade from the judges but maybe in class for at least trying. I dont think my bridge will hold anything the way it looks rite now.
4) I joined one of my fellow classmates two days before we had to turn in our bridge. I think if we wouldve started ahead of time our bridge wouldve been done and ready to be entered in the competition.

The Kite Runner

Amir, a well-to-do Pashtun boy, and Hassan, a Hazara and the son of Amir's father's servant, Ali, spend their days in a peaceful Kabul, kite fighting, roaming the streets and being boys. Amir’s father (who is generally referred to as Baba, "daddy", throughout the book) loves both the boys, but seems critical of Amir for not being manly enough. Amir also fears his father blames him for his mother’s death during childbirth. However, he has a kind father figure in the form of Rahim Khan, Baba’s friend, who understands Amir better, and is supportive of his interest in writing stories.
1.)Amir changes as the story proceeds for the better because in the beginning of the story he was jealous of Hassan and now hes trying to help Hassan now thats hes dead and gone.
2.)My favorite character was hassan because he always kept his head up and never gave up on himself. I disliked Assef because he was the bully of the town. He treated people in ways he wouldnt want to be treated.
3.)The theme of strength of character is the most prevalent theme. Amir commits terrible sins against his friend and half-brother, Hassan. The story of what he does and how he seeks and finds atonement is a lesson for everyone who wants to do find a way to be good again.
4.)The protagonist of the story was Amir because he changed drastically and he changed his whole perspective on life. He helped the one he once hated because he new it was thr right thing to do. The protagonist is Assef because he has so much hatred in his body to hurt innocent people so i think hes the protagonist.
